Felipe Guimarães has a Master of Advanced Architectural Studies degree from USC and a B.A. in Architecture (5-years degree) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro with 6 months of academic exchange at ETSAM - Madrid Superior Technical School of Architecture in Spain. He is currently Partner and co-owner in L-ADU office and has 6 years of experience as an architect between Brazil and the United States.
At Sage and Coombe Architects in NY he experienced the work environment of a large firm, which engages in diverse scale projects.. In Brazil, prior to that, he worked for 6 years at Mareines+Patalano Office, a practice with an extent portfolio in housing, educational and workplaces. Working in all stages of a project, individually and as part of bigger groups this experience gave him the skills and confidence to open his own office.
In the past two years Guimarães has been working in his own office in Brazil, L-ADU. The outcomes of this venture are several small projects in which four were built and a remarkable result in large-scale national architectural competitions. With a diverse array of teams that L-ADU brought together for these competitions, the office got a third, a second and a first prize out of four competitions in two years. Concomitantly, in the last 6 months he worked as professor in a Architecture and Urban Design undergraduate course at Augusto Motta University Centre in Rio, where I was responsible for 3 courses, teaching REVIT and AUTOCAD for students.
